Let’s rewind…

My fathers first attempt at suicide was ten years ago. He overdosed, but I think he regretted the decision soon after and called the house with an extremely slurred voice saying to come get him. My mom drove me to his house about 5 miles away and I walk in his front door. I find him laying on the ground unconscious. I immediately called 911. They rushed him to the hospital where they pumped his stomach. He was on life support for a week. My parents were divorced at the time but did not have a bad relationship. My mom and I stayed at the hospital the whole time. Family friends and people he knew would come in and pray over him for hours and hours.

At the end of the week some doctors brought me into a room to talk with me. They told me that because I am the next of kin, I would have to soon mai be decision for whether or not I would like them to keep my dad on life support. This is huge for a teenager. At that time, a family friend was in my dads hospital room praying over him. Hours before I had to make a decision he came out of his coma. That was God.

I took over my father’s blog September of 2017 after losing his battle with mental illness. This blog was originally to share my journey through grieving, finding peace, and trusting God in the process...and in many ways is exactly that. This has evolved into life as a family of 4 with 2 dogs, living in the Midwest. I will cover everything from fashion to our family routines. Join us on this crazy adventure!
